“Kherla – eco-friendly village” / Aravis Vikas
The purpose of the project is to implement an “eco-friendly” rural development programme, based on the rational management of natural resources, in and around a village. To render the village autonomous from an environmental point of view, action will be taken along four main lines:- Management of water resources (collection of rainwater, conservation, fair distribution, economical consumption);- Waste management (separation of biodegradable from other waste, setting up of vermicompost units, etc.);- Education and training, particularly for women, to allow them to be involved at the centre of the development of the village and the protection of the environment;- Food safety, through the implementation of manufacturing and preservation procedures (honey, squash, etc.) and the planting of trees and medicinal plants.
