Protection of the Forests / WWF
The Fandriana Marolambo's landscape has been identified as one of Madagascar richest area : 64 amphibians species, 29 reptiles species, 84 of birds, but also 8 primates species (especially lemurs), several rodents species and several mammals including some endangered species. The endemic flora is also very important in this area.
But this landscape is threatened by the local agricultural practices which have major impact on the forest.
Thus, this project aims to preserve and restore the forest's biodiversity and services.
Three experimental villages will be supported in the process.
Several meetings are proposed. The reafforestation of the forestry site will be planned. Eco-friendly socio-economic activities will be implemented: fight against slash and burn agriculture, agroforestry, forestry treatment for the forest restoration, tree nurseries, System of Rice Intensification technique.
