Solar Electrification, Rainwater Harvesting / Barefoot College

Retour

There is a need to reduce the dependency on fossil fuel but also on urban expertise.

The objective of the proposed project is to promote the Barefoot approach in solar electrification and roof top rain water harvesting in 8 countries (The support of the Fondation Ensemble will focus on 6 villages of Mali and Malawi).

The program wants to demonstrate that any remote non-electrified village can be solar and maintained by men and women themselves. The objective is to put the fabrication, installation, repair and maintenance of solar technology in the management, supervision and control of rural communities so that they are totally self sufficient and not dependant, technically and financially on anybody from outside.

By roof top rainwater harvesting, the project will encourage and promote widest application of roof top harvesting in remote rural schools.
