Cultivate agro-biodiversity for food sovereignity

Retour

In Sahel, farmers have to face increasing difficulties to fullfill their alimentary needs.

The plots's diversity is essential for the agriculture to face major issues such as climate change, deterioration of grounds, diseases of plants and pests.

The local plots variety are often more nourishing and better adapted to the sahelian environment.

This project aims to reinforce the community seeds systems for 24 villages in Douentza Area.

Seeds or gene banks will be set up, an exchange and documentation center will be built and seeds conservation activities for families will be implemented.

Furthermore, implementation of market gardens (crops diversification) will be reinforced, ground and water conservation actions (ponds, dams...) and reafforestation and agroforestry actions will be implemented.

At last, school arbortums will be developed to heighten young awarness on the importance of the ecological inheritance.
