Development of a protected community-run marine area / Oceanium
The purpose of this project is to develop a Protected Marine Area in conjunction with the local fishing communities (Identification of the location for the PMA with the populations concerned, awareness raising in the villages, etc.) to protect the last remaining families of West African manatees and young fish and ensure sustainable fishing of prawns, and at the same time develop activities that generate revenue and respect the environment (oyster gathering techniques that respect the mangrove, eco-friendly tourist gîtes, agro-forestry perimeter, etc.). The overall aim being to improve the living conditions of the target populations and find the sources of revenue required to run the protected marine area.
